EAUX BONNES 1 (CONCF-004)
Dates: 07/07 – 28/07
Group size: 12
Project: For mountain lovers! Come to spend three weeks in altitude on the western Pyrenees Mountains. Eaux Bonnes, mountain city at the top of the Ossau Valley, is a renowned spa in the heart of the Pyrenees Mountains and the largest ski area in the region. For the seventh year in a row, Concordia participates to the rehabilitation of one of the many shepherd shelters that can be found in the hills above the town. It is a unique opportunity to experience life in the mountains and meet its people.
Work: You will renovate a pastoral shelter in the municipal area. The work will mainly concern the consolidation of dry stone walls and the installation of a traditional slate roof. Some work will eventually be done inside and outside the building to make the shelter available to hikers.
Accommodation and food: You will be accommodated in tents (2 per tent, mats supplied) on the work place. The site is at 2400 meters of altitude, 2 hours of mountain hiking far from the town. Living conditions are very basic as you will be in the mountain all week (no electricity, running water or internet). Be sure to have the proper equipment against cold and rain. During the weekends you will stay, as a group, in a cottage in the village. You will share the various collective tasks and prepare meals together.
Location and leisure: Eaux Bonnes is located 50Km south of Pau city and 30Km from the Spanish border.
You’ll be in the mountains for the restoration of the shelter and you will sleep on site. Hiking, climbing initiation and discovery of local traditions will be offered during leisure times.

Bring a 0-degree sleeping bag, both lightweight and very warm clothes as well as rain gear, mountain hiking shoes, mosquito repellent, flashlight, batteries, sunscreen and swimsuit. A backpack is necessary to go up and down the mountain daily.
